Shopping for vintage items at the flea. A table full of flea market wares.
Elsie the Cow advertising piece.
A warm fall day full of sun and you are searching for vintage treasures at your local flea market.  Tell us what you find, below are some of the valuables we located at ours.
Flea market find!
Here are a couple little advertising pieces that I found at a local thrift shop yesterday - September 1, 2004.  I was just about ready to walk out of the shop, after being disappointed about not finding a thing, when I looked down and saw the little WW2 advertising piece laying in a box of sewing items.  I was so surprised I didn't even move for a second, then I started sorting through the box! What a surprise when the little Elsie the Cow made her appearance!  As much as I like them, you just can't keep everything.  These are for sale.  They were in mint condition - before the trip to the thrift shop and the sticky tags were put on them. Now both have paper removed on the back sides.  My mistake, I am sure, but I don't know how to remove sticky tags from paper without removing some.
Each is only 5.45.  The front of the vintage advertising pieces are in good shape.  Very little wear to the edges of the pieces.  No creases at all in the Borden's Elsie and the crease in the 1940's vintage advertising sewing kit is barely noticeable.

A day of vintage shopping at the flea market can bring some small surprises on any given day.  We were strolling thru the 23 Southbound Flea Market and found some wonderful collectibles and vintage wares.  Above is a complete travel case in very good condition!  Nestled among many vintage items we found this Aladdin Hall Teapot in execellent condition, with the infusor.  Did you spot it in the photo above?
No chips or cracks!  Mint! It was only 35.00, now that would have been a steal!
Look at this collectible McCoy Smiley Face coffee cups and a vintage Smiley Face bank from the 60's or early 70's!
Flea market finds and vintage items, including depression glass can be found every weekend at the 23 Southbound Flea Market located south of Piketon, Ohio. If you love collecting depression glass or if you are looking for a glass dealer to sell your depression glass collection to, just hop on down to the flea market this weekend and look around. There are numerous depression glass and ceramic dealers located indoors with rare and valued glassware's.

It is not uncommon to find rare and valuable pieces among the many table of wares. I, personally found 4 Fireking Jadite or Jadite Restaurant Wares that were valued at over 200.00, in mint condition for 20.00. As I do not collect jadeite, I did resell these pieces to a lady in Japan.

We just never know what we will run into among the 200 indoor booths let alone the numerous outdoor booths. This place is hot! You can shop forever in the air-conditioning inside or go outside and find fleamarketers set up along the side of the road.

You will find many typical flea market items such as Nascar memorabilia, handmade crafts, and other such shopping, but over half of the booths on any day are filled with retro vintage collectibles.

This is just a small sampling of what we found today at the flea market.

O, by the way, your favorite pet is allowed to come with you, as long as they are well mannered.

How do you like these mint depression glass spice shakers, probably from the 30's, with the carrying rack too!  Like I always say, you just never know what you will find day to day.

Exquisite Hull Art, marked Hull Art on the bottom of each piece. These pieces were beyond mint! No crazing, no chips, no problems with color. Perfect!

You can locate other pieces like this in booth D 1 and 2. These people specialize in depression and glass ware!
The Grube's booth - again!

A Vintage Yellow Kitchen Step Stool

for only 6.00 in D isle near the front.

That was a cool deal, but I passed it up.

I think the date of this piece would be in the 40's, perhaps 50's. But most of the ones I have seen from the 50's are marked Cosco and have rubber covers on the steps. This stool just has the metal grid with groves for traction.
Enjoy the sunshine, enjoy the food, take an afternoon out and come vintage shopping with us at the flea market.  It is amazing what you can find there!  Ladies, keep an eye out for that trash to treasures find there also.  An old picture frame, a vanity table that needs a mirror replaced, or just let your imagination go wild.  Relax and have a good time.

Whether you taste runs from the 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, or 70's you can find something for everyone.  From depression glass to funky 70's smiley faces, the 23 Southbound Flea Market has it all!

Look - A Hull Pottery Piggy Bank with a cork nose and coin slot on top.
How cute, but alas, the ring is long gone from the nose.  Do you really care?
Found at the local flea market.  Flea markets are a great place to find good junk!
