Funk n Junk of Chillicothe, Ohio has closed.   Just not enough business since the Goodwill moved to Bridge Street.  That is such a shame, I loved this shop so much.  But it is hard to keep an antique shop open when you are not located in a tourist section of the state.  Just not enough walk in business.  I regret not purchasing this couch.

Vintage Tide Boxes
Vintage Detergent
Vintage Detergent consisting of 2 boxes of Tide,1 box of Rinso, and 1 box of Dreft in Unopened Boxes sold in a lot brought 85.03 at Ebay auction on 8-17-04. These boxes were purchased at the 23 Southbound Flea Market in Piketon, Ohio the weekend before for two dollars each. The flea market vendor had over 20 such boxes of detergent. I will bet someone wished they had purchased them all! Don't you? That person shall remain nameless, umhumm..............
It just goes to show you that you have to keep your eyes peeled and look for the bargain.  Great vintage finds are out there at very low cost to you.
Search the thrift shops, yard sales, goodwills, volunteer of America's and even your own attic and garage!
Vintage Funk and Junk
A Walk Down Memory Lane
If you are ever in Chillicothe, Ohio and find yourself near 65 North Paint Street, then I invite you to visit one of the finest vintage retro shops around.  Open 11 a.m. till 5.30 six days a week, Monday thru Saturday.  You have to see more of this shop, click the Funk and Junk link above.  One of my personal faves!

I visit at least once a week and find new treasures at every turn.  Their prices are reasonable and their finds are the definition of vintage funky.
Not sure what Funky means?  It happens to be beat, cockeyed, crazy, curious, droll, erratic, far out, flaky, fly ball, freak, freakish, freaky, geeky, idiosyncratic, irregular, kooky, nutty, odd, oddball, off-center, offbeat, outlandish, peculiar, quaint, queer, quirky, quizzical, screwy, singular, uncommon, unconventional, unusual, way out, whacky, whimsical, wild, and yo-yo.  At least according to thesaurus.com
Vintage Neon Light
Cool neon lights for basements or garages in the booth right next door to our vintage clothing.
Great retro look!
Vintage and collectible store for clothing, purses, hats and most anything we find from the past.  You never know what you can find in the store.

Some vintage items and retro collectibles are for sale, but some are just on display till we grow tired of them, then they are for sale!

Cool hot vintage decorations for your home and some great retro decorating ideas for your vintage styled retro rooms.  Just come on in and look around.

If you love the past, if you love the 40's, 50's, 60's, and 70's the way we do, they you are in the right place!  Retro vintage collectibles are what we offer.

We pride ouselves on what we sell.  We love to take the time to rumage through store after store to bring you the nicest vintage and retro collectibles available to you from this area.

Yes, we love to shop till we drop!  What girl doesn't?

We can't keep everything we find, and we can't just let it sit in some dark thrift shop corner gathering dust!  After a few years of collecting vintage, we decide to build a web site and bring these local area retro finds to you.

If you have a  nostalgic, wistful, sentimental, yearning for a return to days gone by, a simpler time, then you have arrived.

One of the first things I want to tell you is that we are not  "vintage fashion experts", or knowledgeable about vintage fashion in any great detail.

If it is hot, if it is cool, if we would have worn it in the "day", then we will offer it for sale.

Remember, these are not new items. That means that most of these items are not perfect. However, we look very carefully for flaws and describe every one that we see.  If it is in mint condition, then we will say so.  Like we alway say, if we wouldn't wear it, why would we expect you too?

We will try and decide the decade of the piece by certain known retro signs - side metal zippers - 40's, back metal zippers - 50's or early 60's, the rest is just our memories of when we were young in the 60's and 70's.

If you find that we have dated a fashion incorrectly, please give us the reasons the outfit is not from the decades we list and we will make corrections.  We don't want to "fool" anyone concerning our fashions.

Now, many of you may want to know where we have located these items. We go to estate auctions, which we found a great source of vintage items.

We make my rounds at yard sales, where we might find a "sleeper" - an item that the seller didn't know was vintage. The list goes on to include local thrift shops, Goodwill's, Volunteers of America, and Cancer stores.

Then you have our very favorite the 23 Southbound Flea Market located below the town of Piketon, right on state route 23 in southern Ohio.

We did not purchase all of the items photographed and place on this web site, we am simply not that rich and we don't have mansions to store these treasures in! We simply buy what we like, buy what is in great condition, then decide whether to sell the finds or keep them for ourselves.  We just thought you might enjoy seeing what is out there or kicking yourself over what you might have missed.

I love the 50's, 60's, and 70's. These are my decades of choice, but that won't stop me from making a purchase from another time period. I know many of you like other collectibles and retro items. So when I find a great piece from the 20's 30's, or 40's, I won't hesitate to make the buy.

Chris likes the shabby chic country look. The old white dry sinks, destressed cabinetry, benches, ect.

We will also offer many items that we have duplicates of or no longer have room for in our homes.

For our purposes here, we will call anything from the 1900 to 1980 vintage.  We think that vintage must mean at least 20 years old.

All items listed as antiques will be 100 years old or more.

Retro will be a fashion reminiscent of the past and at least 20 years old.

We will include many photos of item that are for sale at the time of inclusion at the 23 Southbound Flea Market.  You can find us there inside on the first isle by the road.
We do not own these item and do not have these vintage items for sale.  We will give you the booth number of the items and perhaps you can enjoy a ride down to see if the item is still available.

On these items, it will do you no good to call us.  We can not help you.

If the vendor wishes to leave his or her phone number on the web, you can contact them directly.

The Market ask that you do not call them directly, as they can not go get the vendor for phone calls.  This is a very large area with many venders of vintage items.  Their information is below

Description: Dealers range from vintage and retro items, collectable coins, antiques, collectables, candles and supplies! Food items.  Don't forget to check  the large outside area. You will find lots of funk and junk in all the booths of vintage dealers.
Sightseers are lured in by expansive and crowded display windows. The vicinity, near the front teems with home accessories, but vintage clothing and retro furniture is the attraction that brought them here.

Faded flowers and decades old painting, lend an old-fashion romantic appearance to some booths. Sponge-painted antique white walls spell warm days and cool evenings to come. More flowers cover chairs from the '40s and '50s, sit in various booths, and here and there you will find retro 1950's geometric design furniture.  Barkcloth curtains and vintage fabrics have been found by myself.

Mostly good condition, even mint vintage with a smattering of vintage-like--if you want to know what I mean thrown in the mix.

Ladies have the most fun, with bygone hats from the 40s and  50's.  Look at the flapper fringed dresses, the cigar box, and vintage animal print clutches.  You will find  poodle skirts and prom dresses, in perfect condition from the '50s. Don't forget the vanity dresser ladden with vintage bakelite accessories, hand held mirrors with carved handles, glass perfume bottles, antique ribbons and bows.

Reminiscent of bygone days where men stand beneath corner street lamps, well past midnight, clad in trench coats and fedora's, half hidden by moving shadows. Smoking handrolled cigarettes, waiting for the stranger to arrive, as fog washes down the street leaving ghost like trails.  He listens, then the unmistakable clicking of a womans heels against cement! Louder now, as she moves away from the shadows into the light.  A good girl out on a night like this?  No, this doll is anything but good...................wrap up like a cuban cigar in a red Cheongsam dress.......................
